Grandmother's Garden Grandmother's Garden
Applique Quilt Revival by Nancy Mahoney (Book) DISCONTINUED preview

The author has taken designs from the 30s and given them a fresh new look. Although most of the designs are from actual newspaper cuttings, Nancy has used today's fabrics for a 2008 look.

Remember that the 1930's was depression era where people used every scrap of fabric. Feed companies put their animal feed into sacks made from floral fabrics -- these in turn became clothing and quilts. You can still buy these sacks in antique stores, but they now cost an arm and a leg. There are plenty of reproductions around to make some of the beautiful quilts in this book.
