"Lonesome miner wants wife to share stake and prospects. Please respond to Louis Dreibelbin in Grass Valley, California." This ad appeared in a San Francisco magazine in 1873. Eleanor Barry responded to it but Louis didn't turn out to be who he said he was! This book honours 12 courageous women who left their families to go west. You can read their stories and make the sampler quilt that has log cabins and flowers they would have found on the journey. There are some smaller projects and a great quilt called Gone Fishin' -- with lots of different trout appliqued on -- great gift for a fisherman!
