Grandmother's Garden Grandmother's Garden
Carrie Hall's Sampler by Barbara Brackman (Book) DISCONTINUED preview

Carrie Hall was born in Wisconsin just after the Civil War. She published a book called The Romance of the Patchwork Quilt In America. It was the first comprehensive index to quilt patterns. The quilts in this book by Barbara Brackman feature the blocks from that book. Barbara has chosen some of her favourite designs for her book so that now you too can make a Carrie Hall sampler. Many of the blocks are Carrie Hall originals. Read about Carrie and how she gambled on the stock market and horse racing "borrowing" money from friends and several clubs she was treasurer for! She undertook the task of creating all known patchwork blocks and stopped at one thousand. Eight hundred of those blocks are now owned by the Spencer Museum in Kansas.
