Confederates in the Cornfield by Edie McGinnis (Book) DISCONTINUED

I really like this book. It has a fair bit of history about Davis County and how Jim Jackson and his band of bushwackers wreaked havoc when they made a foray into Iowa. The stunning quilt called Bird in a Cherry Tree can be made in cotton, though there is a photo of the quilt stitched in wool. It is an appliqued quilt with 9 blocks and a beautiful border with birds, branches and cherries. The original quilt was made around 1840. I would love to see us making this quilt here at the shop, but we have so much in the pipeline already.
