Hearts for Christchurch Exhibition
The exhibition showcases over 4,000 textile hearts from around the world. The project is the inspiration of Evie Harris from Napier who collected the hearts after the February 22 earthquake. The idea spread quickly and stitchers began making hearts. A huge range of hearts were collected – small and oversize, embellished with beads, lace, ribbon and embroidery or very simple with written or stitched messages of hope and support. Some are traditionally pieced and quilted while others are examples of textile art. The hearts are exhibited as a rainbow of colour twisting over the gallery walls.
When: Until 22nd February 2012.
Where: Canterbury Museum, Christchurch
